尚达（Khomotso Manyaka 饰）虽然只有12岁，行为举止却成熟的宛如一个成年人。尚达的父亲在她很小的时候就去世了，之后母亲嫁给了名为乔纳（Audrey Poolo 饰）的男人。然而，乔纳是一个不负责任的酒鬼，除了从家里往外拿钱外什么事情也没做过。也就是说，这么多年来，尚达其实一直和母亲丽莲（Lerato Mvelase 饰）过着相依为命的生活。
